Commissions East

Home Grown: Art and the Cultivation of a Neighbourhood, written by Oliver Bennett, charts the birth of a new area of Cambridge. The development, Orchard Park comprises largely of low cost housing and includes a programme of public art commissions that are a key feature in establishing a sense of place for the new communities that have moved into the area.

The book provides an opportunity to re-examine the role of art commissioning in the public realm, as well as a record of the art commissioned for this new part of the city of Cambridge.
